Trip to Harajuku

Stop at Shinjuku on the way

Zan and Mom getting a bite to eat at KFC in Shinjuku

Shinjuku Station (Tokyo's busiest train station) during an off hour... you can image how this looks during rush hour!

Walkway entrance to the Meiji Jingu Shrine in Harajuku

Quick photo along the way.

Another pic on the way to the shrine

Wedding ceremony at the shrine

Angels Heart crepes...
Similar to a waffle cone, the crepes are rolled into a cone shape and filled with ice cream and fresh fruits - very tasty!

Another sign for a dental clinic
(Spotted this one at Nerima station)

Our neighborhood in Tokyo, Higashi-kurume

"ONO" dental clinic... lol

Higashi-kurume Station (by our apartment)

Mister Donut

Side street near Higashi-kurume

Our favorite local lunch spot...

...and of course there's a McDonald's

Another side street near Higashi-kurume

Doesn't seem like this clinic is too busy judging from the look of the local dentition

It's hard to see in this picture, but the entire menu was written in Japanese (of course) and there were a few different drinks offered (mainly tea-based varieties).

...and a close up of the sign for the Pet Super shop.

There were lots of pet treats/items that were the same name brand as in the US, but with Kanji writing.  There were also A LOT of small breed puppies (shocker) in very small pens that looked like aquarium tanks.  They had a few kittens for sale as well... Bengals, Persians, and even a Scottish Fold.  Of course I wanted to take photos, but the first English I have heard since we got here was the girl working who quickly told me, "No pictures." ha ha

Eating at one of the local restaurants.

Layne and her Japanese sister - Keiko!

Note: Keiko is Layne's close friend from Tokyo whom we met when we lived in Hawaii.  The 2 of them have kept in touch ever since. She still lives in Hawaii, but she happened to be visiting while we were here!
